Jared Golden leads Democratic nomination in 2nd Congressional District
The ranked-choice process may be used in the Democratic primary for Maine’s 2nd congressional district.
There's no clear winner Wednesday morning on who will challenge Congressman Bruce Poliquin.
With 71 precincts reporting, the unofficial results show state lawmaker and Marine Corps veteran Jared Golden from Lewiston leading with 50 percent of the vote.
Lucas St. Clair, who led the successful effort to create a national monument in northern Maine, is close behind at 41 percent.
Rare book dealer Craig Olson from Islesboro is in third place with 10 percent.
With ranked-choice voting, Golden would have to finish with more than 50 percent of the vote. It's possible that could happen in the first round of voting once all the precincts report.
If not, St. Clair could still have a chance to win in round two.
