Man kicks down door, shoots ex-girlfriend in Oakland, police say
OAKLAND, Maine (WGME) -- Police say a Fairfield man broke into his ex-girlfriend’s Oakland home Wednesday night and shot her.
Police say 36-year-old Jeremy Clement arrived at the Oak Street home around 8:30 p.m. and was told to leave by his ex-girlfriend, who called the authorities.
“He kicked in the door, and they got into an altercation,” Oakland Police Chief Mike Tracy told the Bangor Daily News. “He ended up shooting the ex-girlfriend in the shoulder.”
Police say her injury is not considered life-threatening.
Clement and a third person in the house were injured “in the melee that happened” immediately after the shooting, Tracy told the BDN.
Officers say Clement had to be taken down with a Taser and pepper spray before he was arrested.
Police say all three were taken to the hospital. Clement was later arrested and taken to jail.
Clement was charged with elevated aggravated assault and burglary.
He's being held at the Kennebec County Correctional Facility in Augusta.
