WARREN (BDN) --An inmate who escaped Bolduc Correctional Center in Warren early Wednesday morning was recaptured about eight hours later, according to corrections officials.

Jason Brown, 33, “left the facility” around 1 a.m. but was captured nearby around 9 a.m., according to a brief news release from Corrections Commissioner Joseph Fitzpatrick.

Fitzpatrick declined to say how Brown escaped.

Corrections officers set up a roadblock in Thomaston early Wednesday, where they stopped motorists and asked to check their trunks, according to the Courier-Gazette. That checkpoint broke up when someone reported seeing Brown elsewhere.

Knox County Sheriff Donna Dennison said the prisoner was caught near Prior Brothers Auto Body in Cushing.

Bolduc, a minimum security facility, has 222 inmates and 65 staff, according to the state website.

This is the second escape from the facility in recent months. On Aug. 16, a 26-year-old prisoner working on a supervised off-campus farm-related work detail job walked away. He was recaptured with the help of Rockland police and a prison fugitive recovery team.
