EAST KINGSTON, N.H. (WGME) – The East Kingston Fire Department responded to a collision where a train collided with a vehicle that had become stuck on the tracks on Saturday.

Firefighters responded to the collision on 1 Depot Road at 4:57 PM.

Firefighters determined an Amtrak train struck a vehicle while it was stopped on the tracks and the driver of the vehicle had escaped the car prior to the collision.

Neither the driver of the car nor any of the more than 50 passengers on board the train were injured.

“I’m extremely grateful that nobody was hurt as a result of this incident,” Chief Warren said.

Following a preliminary investigation, East Kingston firefighters learned the driver of the car had mistakenly turned onto the tracks and left her vehicle to seek help when the collision occurred.

The driver also reported she is not from the area and her GPS system told her to turn prior to her vehicle becoming stuck.
