GORHAM (WGME) -- Thousands were without power Thursday afternoon after a dump truck overturned in Gorham, getting tangled in electric wires, trapping the driver inside.

Police say it happened just before 9 a.m. Thursday.

A Westbrook dump truck driver had just dropped off brush at the Gorham Public Works Department when the body of his truck got stuck in the wires, causing the truck to flip and pull the utility pole down.

The driver was trapped in the truck. Rescue crews had to wait for CMP to arrive to shut the power off.

The power outages affected neighborhoods within a five mile radius.

The driver of the dump truck walked away without a scratch.
