Windham home heavily damaged after fire
WINDHAM (WGME) – A Windham home was heavily damaged after a fire Monday morning.
One person, who was inside at the time of the fire, was able to get out safely.
Crews were called to Falmouth Road around 2:30 a.m. When they arrived, flames could be seen coming from the second floor.
Several different departments assisted Windham in fighting the fire.
Crews were able to get the fire under control in about a half hour, but remained on the scene putting out hot spots.Falmouth Road is closed from Nash Road to Albion Road.
Windham Fire Chief Brent Libby says there is heavy damage to the second floor and water and smoke damage to the first, but it doesn't appear to be a total loss.
He says the cause of the fire is unknown, but it doesn't appear to be suspicious.
The Red Cross is assisting the homeowner.
Crews will be back on scene to continue to investigate.
