I-Team: Top 5 consumer complaints in Maine revealed

Scams top the list of consumer complaints in Maine

STATEWIDE (WGME) - The Office of the Maine Attorney General is revealing to the CBS 13 I-Team the state's top 5 consumer complaints.

  1. Scams
  2. Home improvement/construction
  3. Appliances (repairs or issues that often fall under the implied warranty)
  4. Health (products promised to do something that they don’t)
  5. Used vehicle purchases and repair issues

Every year the Attorney General's Consumer Information and Mediation Service hears from about 12,000 Maine consumers.

CBS 13 teamed up with the Office of the Attorney General Tuesday night to host an On Your Side Help Center.

"You're doing such a great job educating people about their rights as consumers. Thanks for all you do," said Attorney General Janet Mills.

The team answered about 100 calls in 90 minutes.
